3 weeks old

Well, the little one is officially 3 weeks old and we can't believe it! Keep him in your prayers because he has a little cold and is sniffling, coughing, and sneezing. It breaks our hearts to hear him. It makes it difficult to sleep at night because he seems so distressed. Just pray that he'll heal quickly and eat enough to beat this wretched thing! He's also had some terrible gas that makes him wretch around and very uncomfortable. We have been doing everything we can to help him with it but nothing works at times. It is very hard as a parent to see your little one in pain and not be able to do anything for him. Hopefully next update will be better news. He is growing big and is getting some fat on his cheeks and arms. His next Doc's appt. is Oct 6th so we'll give everyone an update then. Here's to a great end of the week and healthy little children!

Love much,

2 weeks old and not a day older!

I cannot believe that I gave birth two weeks ago! Wow...time flies when you are having fun! Sawyer is doing really well. He is eating great, sleeping well (throughout the day anyways...some nights are debatable) and pooping even better! He is doing an outstanding job of being a baby! I give him an A+++ I told everyone he was superior and advanced and I believe that he is! Well speaking of the little one, he is getting extra fussy so I better get going to sooth this little one!

Happy Week Birthday, Sawyer

Today at 3:09 am, our little man, Sawyer, turned one week old! When we woke up at 3:45 to eat, mommy wished him happy birthday! Today was also his first doctors visit. When he left the hospital, he was 6lbs. 9oz and he is now 7lbs. 9oz! He has gained one lb. in a week. You can tell he loves to eat!

Everything looked really well at the doctors. They asked lots of family history questions and did a quick check of his body and said that he looked "fabulous"! I think this visit wore him out because he has been sleeping since 3:00 and only woke up once at 5:30 to eat. Poor daddy hasn't seen his eyeballs since he has been home. Today was daddy's first day back to work and I think it was harder on mommy then daddy. I cried myself to sleep at 8:00 because I missed daddy! We have had sooo much fun this past week spending time as a family. Luckily Nana was here to help and even Mamaw came down and got to hold him as mommy got ready for the doctors visit.

All is well with out little one and we so cherish the prayers and well wishes from the family and our friends! Keep us in your prayers as we continue this journey of family!

first day home

Well, we all survived our first car ride and day at home. Mommy and Daddy were paranoid parents and were driving like grandmas because of the weirdo's that drive around here. Mommy and Daddy both had a hard time keeping it together the whole ride home because of the realization that we are REALLY parents. We have been blessed beyond all words and just don't know how to express our thankfulness to God for blessing us with Sawyer.
Sawyer did really well all day yesterday. We had Grandma and Grandpa stay with us for a few hours before they had to head back to New York. Great Aunt Jackie and Aunt Minn came over to visit with him and even Auntie Donna came up to look at his cute cherub face.
Sawyer is eating like a champ and loves it! In fact, he was up most of the night munching away. Mommy was getting VERY sleepy since she only took two one hour naps yesterday and he was up from 12-3:30 eating and mixing up his days and nights. Finally at 3:30, Sawyer went to sleep and mommy could finally get some rest. At 6:00, he was up and ready for some food so Mommy pried her eyes open and feed him until 7:00. Then Daddy was a super dad and let mommy sleep until 10:00 while he watched Sawyer snooze away! All day Sawyer has done nothing but sleep, eat and poop. He has had a few moments of eyes open and alert but not many. That's what happens when one little guy decides to stay up all night partying! We are hoping that he will sleep a little better tonight!
We are now resting and waiting for our buddies Rena and Randy to come and see us! We'll keep everyone posted about the days events! Love to all,
MSS

Everyone, meet Sawyer!

He's HERE!!!

Well...the big day has come and gone. Our son, Sawyer Forbes Caufield, arrived on 9/03/08 at 3:09 am and he is officially one day old and close to 9 hours old. WOW!! I am in amazement of the whole birth thing! As I was sitting on my couch on Tuesday night discussing with my mom about water breaking, I felt a little gush of something and then I ran to the bathroom and there was a BIG gush of something and my water broke. We called Mike up and he accused me of peeing my pants!! Can you believe that? We rushed around and collected everything and then rushed to the hospital. When they checked me, I was 4-5 cm dilated and starting to have contractions. I was admitted to the hospital. I tried to be the martyr and walk the halls and maybe get a shower to control the contractions but after my walked the halls I screamed "epidural!!!" The epi was so effected that I didn't feel anything, thus making me useless for pushing. At 1:00 they turned off the epi and then I felt them! All in all, I pushed for about 3.5 hours and only 45 minutes were effective. In the end, our beautiful son was born and all the pain was well worth it! He is doing well, eating and SLEEPING all the time! He is not fussy unless people are poking and prodding him or unless he is extremely tired and we are forcing him to wake up to eat. He is beautiful and we are richly blessed by God with this miracle. Thank you so much to everyone for your prayers, thoughts, and well wishes these past 9 months. Keep us in your prayers as we start this new phase of our lives together!
Love to all!
Mike, Stacey, and Sawyer Forbes Caufield
